This document is intended for end users who want to install the GML Viewer - follow the install steps below.

Product Install

To install your recently downloaded GML Viewer, run the installer and follow the instructions on the screen. The install steps below explain how to do this:

Install Steps

Step 1 - Run installer


To run the Windows installer either use the Windows Start->Run menu and select the file eg xxxxx   or double click this file in Windows Explorer. This shall open the installer wizard.


After downloading open a shell and cd to the directory where you downloaded the installer. At the prompt run the installer by typing eg:  

sh ./xxxxLinux.sh

Installing via a remote login

The installer has a graphical user interface so your login will need to have access to the graphics environment of your terminal e.g. login using XTerm rather than rsh.

Step 2 -  Welcome to the GML Viewer Setup Wizard

The GML Viewer Setup Wizard shall take you through all the required steps to successfully install the relevant GML Viewer product components.

Step 3 - Select Installation Directory

The Wizard shall automatically select the destination installation directory. It is recommended that you install GML Viewer in the selected installation directory.

Step 4 - Accept the Licence Agreement

Step 5 - Select the relevant components to Install

Step 6 - Accessing GML Viewer via Start Menu Folder

By default, the Wizard shall set up a GML Viewer folder in the Start Menu, containing shortcuts that are accessible to all users of the machine.

  • If you do not need to provide access to GML Viewer to all users, de-select Create Shortcuts for all users.
  • If you do not want to create a folder in the Start Menu, select Don't create a Start Menu folder.

Step 7 - Additional Tasks

By default, GML Viewer will create a desktop short-cut and a quick launch icon.

Step 8 - Install

You have now successfully configured the settings for installing GML Viewer on your machine. GML Viewer shall now install.

Step 9 - Installation Confirmation

Congratulations, you have now installed the GML Viewer!
